What you learn in life is what makes you and is what defines you. Santiago breaks free of the chains that hold him back to pursue his dreams and fulfill his personal legend. Santiago was a young ambitious man who refuses the traditional dull life that his father wanted for him. He left his family behind to become a shepherd. Santiago had a recurrent dream about talking to his flock and calling them by name, and the conversations in the dream were about a merchant’s daughter who he met and fell instantly in love with. The fortuneteller interpreted the dream, as it’s a key to the treasure hidden in the pyramids of Egypt. Santiago faces many experiences through out his trip to Egypt and the trip is cut short because he is unable to afford the expenses of the journey. He accepts a job in a crystal shop, which will only provide him with enough money to buy a flock of sheep. Although that Santiago had given up hope on finding the treasure but we understand that the actual treasure is finding himself and making his his personal legend.
